அல்வலீத் மார்ச் 7, 1955 சவுதி அரேபிய அரச (Saudi Arabia Royal family) குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்தார்.அரச குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்திருந்தாலும் தனது சொந்த முயற்ச்சியின் முலம், பங்குச் சந்தையில் (Share market) முதலீடு செய்து மிகப்பெரிய லாபம் சம்பாதித்தார்.

அல்வலீத் (1979) ஆம் ஆண்டு மெலோனா கல்லூரியில்(Menlo College)தனது பட்டப்படிப்பை முடித்தார். $30,000டாலர்களை தன் தந்தையிடமிருந்து கடனாகப் (Loan) பெற்று தனது Business தொடங்கினார.
இவர் 1990 ஆம் ஆண்டு சிட்டி கார்ப் நிறுவனத்தின் (City corp company) பங்குகளை $550மில்லியன் டாலர்களுக்கு வாங்கினார், அப்போது அந்த நிறுவனம் சரிவில் சென்று கொண்டு இருந்தது இருப்பினும் அதன் பங்குகளை வாங்கினார், மேலும் ஏ.ஓ.எல் (AOL),ஆப்பிள் (Oracle),வேர்ல்டுகாம் (Wordcom),மோட்டராலே (Motorola) போன்ற நிறுவனங்களின் பங்குகளை வாங்கினார்.
August 2004ஆம் ஆண்டு தனது பங்கின் பாதியை விற்றார்.January 2005ஆம் ஆண்டு சேவோ ஒட்டலை (Savoy Hotel in London for an estimated GBP £250 million) விலைக்கு வாங்கினார். 2007 வருடதிய கணக்குப் படி இவருடைய சொத்து மதிப்பு US$29.5 billion டாலர்கள் ஆகும்.போபர்ஸ் (Forbes) கணக்குப்படி இவர் உலக பணக்கார பட்டியலில் பத்தொண்பதாவது இடத்தில் உள்ளார்.
